EAGLES SPORTS
HALL OF FAME

HALL AWARDS TWO SCHOLARSHIPS

The Eagles Sports Hall of Fame awarded two $500 scholarships to outstanding scholar-athletes at Southwest. Pier Paolo Diconzo has been in the United States for less than a year, moving here from Italy. He wanted to play badminton, but Southwest's program had been dormant since the pandemic. Paolo not only recruited a team, but also a coach, and was the Eagles' top player. Pier, who sports a 4.2 weighted GPA, is so popular that he was chosen as homecoming king after just a few months at the school. Daniela Misuthova is the first underclassman to receive a scholarship from the Hall. A foreign exchange student, Daniela will be finishing high school in her native Slovakia. Daniela, who also has a 4.2 weighted GPA, was the district champion in both the 100 meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. She is returning to Slovakia this week to try out for the national team in the European Junior Championships. At the state meet, Daniela was 7th best in the 100 backstroke.
