LARA BREAKS HER OWN SCHOOL RECORD AT STATE MEET

Sophomore Izabella Lara broke her own school record in the 400 meters at the FHSAA track and field championships at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Her new record time is 57.91 seconds.

HERNANDEZ FINISHES 7th AT REGIONAL MEET

Junior Kaleb Hernandez finished seventh in the javelin event at the Region 4-4A meet Wednesday in Miramar. His best throw was 44.80 meters, about one meter shy of his school record. No other results are available at this time. Region 4 connsists of all of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

HERNANDEZ WINS DISTRICT JAVELIN CHAMPIONSHIP

Javelin thrower Kaleb Hernandez broke his own school record while winning the district 16-4A championship Wednesday at Southridge. His throw was 45.9 meters. He then returned to school for the baseball team's semifinal district tournament win over Varela. Also setting school records were Melany Uriepero in the 100 meter dash and Aryana Flores in the 400 meter hurdles. In the team standings, the girls finished fifth and the boys took sixth place. In addition to Hernandez and Flores, other Eagles qualifying for next week's region 4-4A meet are Izabella Lara in the 400 meter dash, the girls 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams and the boys 4x100 meter relay team.
